Every Individual
and Organization is a Target
Crime syndicates do not discriminate in their cyber-crime activities. They
are just as willing to steal valuable electronic information from a one-man
home-office, as they are from a large multi-national corporation.
“As
long as an organization or an ndividual has digital information
that is valuable to cyber-criminals, such as ID information, credit
card
or debit
card number information, bank account number and access codes,
etc., they are at high risk of a cyber-crime attack.”

“Only
a minimum amount of digital information of criminal value needs
to be resident in an organization’s or an ndividual's computer
system to entice a cyber-crime attack; a name and a social security
number; a name
and a credit or debit card number; a name and bank account or retirement
account number are all adequate information to trigger a cyber-crime
attack”

Many references provide an indication of the magnitude
of the daily cyber-theft, cyber-manipulation and cyber-extortion activities.
In fact, based upon a statement by a senior representative from MasterCard
International, a new cyber-crime is being committed every 20-seconds.
A
senior vice president of MasterCard International has reported
that cyber-crime is becoming so prevalent that at least one
cyber-crime is committed every 20 seconds.

Point: Eventually every computer
system will likely become a victim of a serious cyber-crime attack
and many will become repeat attack victims. It is just a matter of
time before one or more cyber-thieves from one of the many organized
cyber-crime syndicates will be wandering throughout every organization's
and individual's computer system seeking cash or valuable protected
information.
